MONTENEGRO

A Racquet Social Travelogue

I crossed into Montenegro via Debeli Brijeg, returning at Vitaljina. My day trip focused on the country's natural beauty and charm, not rushing through every tourist spot.

BORDER CROSSING

Not far from the border lies Herceg Novi, a small town. Herceg Novi's tranquil old town square provided a perfect glimpse into Montenegro's laid-back charm and history.

Herceg Novi: Old Town

Restaurant Verige 65 in Kostanjica was the perfect refreshment stop. It bordered the fjord-like Bay of Kotor, with calm waters and dramatic mountains.

From its perch at Boka Bay's narrowest point, you can watch cruise ships and yachts glide by, while Perast and its iconic islets, Our Lady of the Rocks and St. George, form breathtaking backdrops.

This scenic drive showcases Montenegros natural beauty—from winding coastal highways to rugged mountain terrain, with dramatic landscapes and Adriatic views.

Wandering through Kotor's vibrant squares, I noticed visitors soak in the atmosphere, framed by ancient buildings and dramatic mountains.

Standing before the grand St. Tryphon Cathedral in Kotor’s Old Town, you feel centuries of history whisper from its stone facade.

St. Tryphon Cathedral

Kotor's Old Town is a remarkably preserved medieval UNESCO World Heritage site filled with charming cobbled alleyways, historic squares, and a centuries-old church.

Located near the northern gates of Old Town, the Venetial-built Riva Bastion is one of the older fortification structures in Kotor and is part of the city walls.

The scenic waterfront promenade just outside Kotor’s Old Town is framed by towering mountains and acts as a moat for the Riva Bastion and the city walls of Kotor.

Just south of Kotor, charming Skaljari offers a tranquil escape. Nestled against dramatic mountains, it provides a relaxed glimpse into Montenegrin life, far from the tourist bustle.

Beautiful travel destinations attract the cruise crowd. Montenegro's Kotor is no exception.
