 Budapest is a tale of two towns,  Buda and Pest.

Buda and Pest, are divided by the river Danube. Budapest is culturally diverse.

River Danube Divides Buda and Pest 

Go for a stroll on the Danube Promanade situated on the banks of the Danube River, on the Pest side of Budapest,. 

The Hungarian Parliament Building seen from the Buda side is picturesque

It is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987

 The Greek revival-style building hosts contemporary art exhibits and performances by leading Hungarian and international artists.

Palace of Art

You can shop, eat, and catch the Budapest vibe at this centrally-located market. It is beautiful and the largest of all Budapest market halls.

At many roadside cafes,  you can eat under $10.

Budapest is more affordable than most major European cities.

Try some Palinka, a fruit brandy. It is believed to have been invented in the Middle Ages in Hungary.

Bars, built among ruins to offer cheap drinks to their patrons. 

They are symbolic of the persecution and forceful evacuations of the Nazi era

 New York Palace Hotel

Located in the historical downtown of Budapest,  the New York Palace Hotel is an 1894 Life Insurance building converted to a luxury hotel.

 New York Cafe

Though pricey, the afternoon tea is popular with tourists.  It is undoubtedly one of the world’s most beautiful cafés in the world.

The Roman and Turkish influences may have something to do with the popularity of communal baths.

Széchenyi Community Bath 

The monument which stands in the popular Elizabeth Square has become a place of pilgrimage for Jackson fans.

 Vorosmarty Square

Besides being one of the most famous squares in Budapest, it is also a great place to hang out and people watch.

The  Citadel

Take in the views from Gellért Hill. The fortress was built in 1854 with the purpose of keeping the city under surveillance.

Designed in 1896, the Millennium Monument features Archangel Gabriel and seven Magyar Chieftains.

Heroes' Square

Budapest is a popular port for Danube River Cruises to culture-rich ports in Germany, Austria, and other neighbouring countries.

Buda Castle by Night

The historical castle dates back to the 13th century and was the palace complex of the Hungarian kings in Budapest.

King  Saint  Stephen 

As the first King of Hungary, King Stephen discouraged pagan customs and promoted Christianity. 

Fisherman's Bastion 

The views from the Romanesque lookout terraces of the Bastion, located near the Buda Castle, are stunning.

Matthias Church 

The church, located in front of the Fisherman's Bastion, is over a thousand years old.

Not all monuments have perfect explanations!  The shape of the fountain at Castle Hill gets a few laughs...

Statue of András Hadik 

The Hungarian Field Marshal is famous for capturing the Prussian capital, Berlin
