A segment of the 500-mile Bay Trail runs along the northern waterfront of San Francisco.

Urban Bay Trail 

The numbering can be confusing for tourists.

Attractions along San Francisco Bay Trail are often identified by their pier numbers. 

The odd-numbered piers are to the left of the Ferry Building, and the even-numbered piers to the right.

The Ferry Building

Go for a run or a bike ride.  It's rarely overcrowded.. 

The Embarcadero is the boulevard that runs along the waterfront of SF

The Ferry Building is home to a number of artisanal food outlets. You can pick up unique items here.

The Farmers' Market is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Saturdays are the best day to visit.

THE FERRY PLAZA FARMERS MARKET

The ferries are a popular commuting option for San Franciscans. The Vallejo Ferry is an option to get from SF to the Napa wine region.

From dives to upscale establishments, SF Bay Trail is dotted with waterfront eateries big and small.

The Port of San Francisco is a 2-min walk from the Ferry Building. 

Take a stroll along the trail and take in the sights. You can find many parking spots along the trail.

Alcatraz Island

Alcatraz lies 1.25 miles offshore from San Francisco. Cruises start from Pier 33. Reservations are required to visit the island.

Pier 39

Pier 39 is very touristy. You will find shopping, entertainment, video arcades, and food stalls here.

The Aquarium of the Bay is located at Pier 39. It focuses on the flora and fauna from the San Francisco Bay and neighboring rivers.

Fisherman's Wharf

You will find many active fishermen and their fleets in the area. Seafood restaurants are a big draw.

Ghirardelli Square may have lost some of its charm. But, it is still popular with tourists.

Admire the beauty and functionality of the Bay Bridge near Pier 24. It has two decks and carries about 260,000 vehicles a day.

Oracle Park is located close to Pier 40 & the Fishing Pier. A further  15-min walk will get you to  The Chase Centre.

A leisurely half-day is all you need to walk around and see the attractions near the Bay Trail and piers.
