A Racquet Social Travelogue
Scandinavian Airlines System is the flagship carrier of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. SAS Plus is its Premium Economy class.
North American Travellers get only limited exposure to SAS. However, for travel to Scandinavian countries, SAS is a great option.

SAS is the only airline offering a direct flight with Premium Economy seats between Newark and Stockholm. At around 2100 USD, it is relatively affordable.
Most airlines offer free lounge access only to business and first-class passengers. My SAS Plus fare included lounges in Newark and Stockholm.
The SAS lounge at Arlanda, Stockholm was spacious and inviting and offered a variety of food options. The one at Newark Airport felt overcrowded.
SAS Plus seats are spacious and comfortable. If you are travelling with a companion, the side seats in the 2-3-2 seat formation offer more privacy.
You can expect upgraded meals in SAS Plus. My choices included chicken and fish. I did not see a vegetarian option. Perhaps, you need to book ahead.
From dinner/lunch to breakfast/snacks, there was no dearth for food or drink during my flights to and from Stockholm.
Welcome drinks are limited to business class passengers. However, the food/beverage service in SAS Plus was timely and attentive.
SAS is currently a Star Alliance Partner which allowed me to collect points on my Air Canada Aeroplan account. With upcoming ownership changes, this may change.
SAS's entertainment system is modern and its interface, friendly. In my view, its new movie selection could be better.
SAS Plus passengers get priority check-in and boarding in the Fast Track lane in Stockholm and Group-2 boarding at Newark.
SAS Plus has different tiers for baggage allowance. My SAS Plus Smart included one 23 Kg bag per passenger. I did not need more, but it would be good to have the extra bag allowance.
You don't fly Premium Economy for the amenity kit. The SAS Plus amenity kit is basic and consists of a shoe bag that holds a toothbrush, toothpaste, ear plugs, and an eye mask.
